This notice explains what we do with personal information when you book a stay with us, list a property with us or simply use this website. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal English.
Who we are
Isle Stays Limited is a company registered in the Isle of Man, number 139215C, with its registered office at 18 Victoria Street, Douglas, Isle of Man IM1 2SE. In this notice "we", "us" and "Isle Stays" mean that company.
We are the data controller for the information described here. If you want to talk to us about any of it, email [email protected] or write to us at the address above.
The law we work to
We are based in the Isle of Man, so we follow Isle of Man data protection law: the Data Protection Act 2018, the Data Protection (Application of GDPR) Order 2018 and the GDPR and LED Implementing Regulations 2018. Our regulator is the Isle of Man Information Commissioner.
What we collect
If you book a stay
- Your name, email address, telephone number and postal address
- The dates you are staying, the property and how many people are coming
- Anything you tell us about the trip: arrival times, access needs, occasions, requests
- Payment details, which are handled by our payment provider rather than held by us
- Any messages between us
If you list a property with us
- Your name and contact details
- The address and details of the property, including photographs
- Bank details so we can pay you
- Information we need for our legal checks, which can include proof of identity and proof of ownership
If you just visit the website
- Technical information such as your IP address, the type of device and browser you are using and the pages you looked at
- Information collected by cookies, which is covered further down this page
Why we use it
We only use personal information where the law gives us a basis to do so. In practice that means:
- To take and run your booking. We need this to perform our contract with you.
- To answer an enquiry. We have a legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.
- To take payment and keep proper records. Partly contract, partly our legal and tax obligations.
- To look after a property we manage. Performance of our contract with the owner.
- To send you offers and news. Only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To keep this website working and secure. Our legitimate interest in running a business online.
Who we share it with
We share only what is needed, only with people who need it:
- The owner or manager of the property you are staying in, so that they can prepare for you
- The booking channel you came through, where you booked through one
- Our booking platform, payment provider, email provider, accountants and professional advisers
- Contractors who need to attend the property, for example a cleaner or a plumber
- Public authorities, where the law requires us to
We do not sell personal information and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
Where your information goes
Some of the companies we use are based outside the Isle of Man. Where information goes outside the Island we make sure there are appropriate safeguards in place before it does.
How long we keep it
- Booking and financial records: six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, because tax law requires it
- Enquiries that do not turn into bookings: two years
- Marketing consents and the record of them: until you withdraw consent
- Owner records: for the length of the agreement and six years afterwards
Your rights
Under Isle of Man data protection law you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete information we no longer have a reason to keep
- Restrict what we do with it while a question is being sorted out
- Send it to you, or to someone else, in a portable format
- Stop using it, where we are relying on our legitimate interests
You can withdraw consent to marketing at any time, either by using the unsubscribe link in any email we send you or by emailing us. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month. There is no charge.
